Visiting the local art museum is a great weekend activity. Whether you’re interested in art or just looking for something new to do, the Tacoma Art Museum has much to offer. Exploring our local area and events is a great way to make our city feel like home. We found some information about the museum and its exhibits here. The site mentions that “The Rebecca and Jack Benaroya Collection features a selection of major works from the promised gift to TAM. The exhibition will include about 60 works of paintings, sculpture, and glass art.” For those who haven’t visited an art exhibit before, we like this site for applicable information we want to share.
For most large, metropolitan museums, you can buy tickets online before you even leave the comfort of your home. You’ll avoid the hassle of possibly long lines. You’ll also avoid the sticker shock — between general admission, the IMAX theater, and special exhibits that sometimes cost more, you could be looking at $25+ per person before meals and souvenirs are even accounted for. It’s a little easier to swallow that number when you see it online in your research phase than when you get to the museum and have only planned for $10. Beware that buying online sometimes incurs a processing fee of a few dollars; so either plan that into your budget, or allow for some possible waiting time at the museum. Weekends are obviously going to be the busiest times at the museum for families. If that’s you, great. Get to it and use that nice stroller of yours to power through the crowds. If you’re a solo adventurer, though, or on a date, you’ll probably want to not only skip the free days just mentioned, but look to go on a weekday instead.
If you go be sure to let us know what you loved about the museum, and thanks for reading the Kensington Gate blog today.
As the air gets cooler, we all start spending a little more time inside. The leaves are falling outside, and inside just gets more cozy! We’ve found the perfect recipe for a yummy fall dish. Make it this weekend — it pairs perfectly with your favorite Netflix series. Our favorite part of this bread? Pumpkin! We love recipes featuring this bright orange ingredient — it can be dressed up or down, savory or sweet.
